View a superb showcase of internally-lit glass art by established and emerging artists from Australia and New Zealand.
Believing that the glory years of the Art Nouveau period can be rejuvenated and re-visited, for the last eight years in association with The Light in Winter, Kirra Galleries have held an illuminated glass exhibition of handmade, one-off pieces of contemporary Australian glass art.
The Kirra Illuminating Glass Award (KIGA) is an extension of this partnership and further recognises excellence in glassmaking. KIGA invites glass artists to design works faithful to their individual style, with the added feature of internal illumination.
The KIGA first prize of $15,000 for the best internally-lit glass sculpture will be awarded on Wednesday 1 June along with the $3000 prize for the most innovative entry. The 39 shortlisted entries will be exhibited at Kirra Galleries until 17 July.
This year’s judges are Mr Peter Kolliner OAM, Ms Robyn Archer AO, Dr Grace Cochrane AM, Mr Simon Warrender and Ms Laura Anderson. View the biographies of the KIGA judges »
