Guest Illustrator – Andrew McLean
12pm – 3pm | Saturday 22 October | The Atrium + Big Screen
Andrew will demonstrate his illustration style in The Atrium, which will be fed live to Fed Square’s Big Screen.
He will be joined by author Neridah McMullin to celebrate and promote the new picture book they have created together, Fabish: The Horse that Braved a Bushfire.
This is a powerful picture story based on the true tale of a race horse called Fabish who saved a group of young horses during the Black Saturday bushfires.
Andrew’s illustrations are evocative and strong and wonderful to see ‘in the flesh’.
Andrew McLean grew up in the Victorian country town of Bairnsdale and has been a full-time artist for more than thirty years.
Many of the picture books he has illustrated have been award winners including My Dog, written by John Heffernan, A Year on our Farm, written by Penny Matthews, My Country, Let’s Go, Baby Oh!, Bob the Railway Dog and You`ll Wake the Baby, written by Catherine Jinks.
Andrew says `I like drawing for young children. I am attracted to the simplicity, honesty and directness of the picture book.`
