Federation Square Literary Progam

Federation Square is committed to promoting reading and the creation of new literary works. We aim to be a visible presence in supporting the literary industry in Melbourne.

We have launched a number of programs that continue to promote the industry, and provide people with opportunities to express themselves through literature, as well as to share their opinions.

Other Events

Federation Square has been the location for many other literature-related events, including the Overload Poetry Festival, Children's Book Week Celebrations, launches by publishers, and the Melbourne Writers Festival. We are currently working to expand these events, and are teaming up with a number of important institutions within Victoria to give writers, publishers, illustrators and readers the opportunity to spread the word about literature.

Poetry at Fed Square

Poetry at Fed Square provides performance poets with the opportunity to read their work in a public location. Now in it's third successful year, the program is curated by World Poetry and The Fellowship of Australian Writers with the support of Fed Square. Poetry readings are held on the second Saturday of every month from 2.00pm to 4.00pm in the alcove of Jolimont Expresso. Each month showcases two feature poets and includes up to ten open readings.

To register your interest, contact fedsquare@writers.asn.au

Where: Jolimont Expresso, The Atrium

Time: The second Saturday of the month, 2.00pm - 4.00pm

Book Market - Expressions of Interest

Federation Square invites expressions of interest for the Federation Square Book Market held every Saturday in the Atrium. Under the weather protection of the glass Atrium, the Book Market is planned as a year round attraction focusing on second hand and new books, and a program of "meet the authors", book readings and review forums. Federation Square Management Pty Ltd (FSM) invites expressions of interest (EOI) from second and new book traders wishing to trade from stalls at the Market.  Stallholders should be available on a rotating roster each month

For further details and the EOI form, contact Fed Square Pty Ltd on (03) 9655 1919 or kate.paterson@fedsquare.com
