The Light in Winter

Directed by Robyn Archer, The Light in Winter is Federation Square's annual celebration of light, enlightenment and hope. This free winter program brings together local and international artists, designers and multicultural communities with a series of light-based artworks, community events and forums and a mid-winter Solstice Celebration.

The 2010 program (4 June - 4 July) included the world premiere of a new work, Solar Equation by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer - one of the world's greatest installation artists.

As part of Federation Square's Environmental Sustainability policy, the energy that is used to power The Light in Winter, the Big Screen and all external events at Fed Square, comes from wind-generated, Green Power.
