Fracture Gallery

Accessible all year round, the Fracture Gallery showcases the work of new and established artists from around the globe. Located in The Atrium, this unique exhibition space consists of twin parallel glass walls, complimented by fractured glass shards and a web of crossbars.

The 2010 Fracture Gallery program is curated by RMIT Gallery and will feature a diverse mix of Australian artists including: Cameron Robbins, Chris Henschke, Donna Kendrigan and Danius Kesminas.

Very Slow Drawing Machine - Cameron Robbins

15 February  - 16 April

Transforming the space into an art laboratory, Robbins' self-built machine, harnesses the wind and solar power, to produce a series of delicate and rhythmic drawings, 'transcribing' the dynamics of Melbourne's weather.

Artist’s Talk: Friday 26 February, 1pm - 2pm, Fracture Gallery, FREE

Fissure - Chris Henschke and Donna Kendrigan

12 July - 15 August

An installation that sweeps dramatically across the Fracture Gallery glass, providing glimpses of the subterrain beneath us.

Artist’s Talk: Friday 23 July, 1pm - 2pm, Fracture Gallery, FREE

Histrionics Hydra – Danius Kesminas

13 September - 7 November

Danius Kesminas is the lyricist and co-lead singer of the 'Concept-Art-(Heritage)-Rock Cover-Band', The Histrionics. His mechanised life-sized tableaux of band members, live concert and 4th album launch commemorate the 10th anniversary of these legendary monsters of pedagogical art-rock.

Opening Night / Live Performance: Friday 17 September, 6pm - 9pm, Fracture Gallery, FREE

Artist’s Talk: Friday 24 September, 1pm-2pm, Fracture Gallery, FREE
