Puppets at Fed Square 2009
In collaboration with ArtPlay, Snuff Puppets, Polyglot Puppet Theatre, ACMI and Yarra Trams, Fed Square hosted a week-long program of puppet shows, roving performances, puppet workshops, films and parades. Giant seagulls, elephants and snails capered around the Square, providing an instant cure to School Holiday boredom!
Homeless World Cup 2008
From 1-7 December 2008, Federation Square and Birrarung Marr were transformed into international street soccer stadiums as almost 500 homeless and marginalised players from over 50 countries united for this inspirational event.
Melbournians embraced the event, with packed grandstands cheering, chanting and stomping their appreciation of the players and their sportsmanship throughout the 300 games played during the week.
Urban Screens Melbourne 08
The third international conference and multimedia exhibition in a series of worldwide Urban Screens events, Urban Screens Melbourne 08 also marked the launch of the International Urban Screens Association. Leading Australian and international screen operators, media specialists, designers, artists, architects, urban planners, broadcasters and theorists from around the world converged on Fed Square to explore the exciting possibilities of large urban screens.
The Light in Winter 2008
The Light in Winter is Fed Square's annual winter festival and celebration of community life centred around light. Local and international artists and communities come together each year to enlighten the city and warm its seasonally chilled heart.
