Screen Worlds: The Story of Film, Television and Digital Culture charts film’s early beginnings to the rise of television, games, the internet and the dominance of the digital age. Screen Worlds contains 220 screen-based displays, 30 hours of moving image content including newly commissioned works, and hundreds of original objects and memorabilia. Let the magic and memories of the moving image mesmerize you. Navigate your way through rarely-seen footage, fascinating objects and interactive displays.
The gallery dynamically illustrates how each form of the moving image emerged as a creative medium. Within three core themes – Emergence, Voices, and Sensation, Screen Worlds explores the impact each form has had on our senses and emotions, and the role they’ve played in shaping our society, from Australian perspectives and in an international context.
