Fed Square Wine Showcase

Whether you’re a wine buff or enjoy discovering new wines you can taste some of Victoria’s finest drops at Federation Square. Every second month the Fed Square Wine Showcase features a different Victorian wine region, offering visitors the chance to rub shoulders with the winemakers, enjoy the latest offerings from their cellar door and help judge the ‘People’s Choice’ for best wines.

Tickets are  $25 and are available via ticketmaster.com.au (plus booking fee) or at the door.

In an Australian exclusive the official judging of the wine takes place live, allowing you to compare notes with the judges and learn what to look for when tasting and purchasing wine. Public judging of the wines is conducted in the Deakin Edge, with the winners of the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals announced on Thursday evening. Showcase winners then compete in the annual Fed Square Wine Awards, which caps off the season with a ‘Best of the Best’ showcase and awards ceremony in August.

Guests at the Fed Square Wine Showcase will also enjoy the smooth sounds of local jazz band, Peter Baylor Trio, and a tasting dish from participating restaurants.

With many of the regions dealing with tough climatic conditions, the April edition of the Fed Square Wine Showcase has been cancelled. We apologies for any inconvenience The regions scheduled for April will be invited to attend the next showcase on 5 + 6 June. Tickets purchased via Ticketmaster will be refunded.

2011/2012 Award Winners

In  a  venerable  showcase  of  whites,  reds  and  fortified  wines,  the  jewel  of  the 2011/2012 Fed Square Wine Awards  was Seville Estate‘s 2010 Chardonnay, which took out the coveted ‘Wine of the Year’ title as well as  ‘Best White Wine’ and ‘Best Chardonnay’.
