Celebrating 10 years of Federation Square
Fed Square turned 10 on Friday 26 October. To celebrate the milestone, Fed Square hosted a weekend packed full of free events.
The festivities included free family activities by Multicultural Arts Victoria, live entertainment by Hong de Lion and Royal Jelly Dixieland Band and hip hop battles by the City Sessions crew.
Victorian rock band, Stonefield performed live in their only all-ages concert for the year and one of Australia’s most exciting emerging acts, Melbourne party band Animaux also took to the stage for a live performance.
Special behind-the-scenes tours of the Square were available and gave visitors an insight into the architectural marvels of the build and the precinct’s role in the civic life of Melbourne.
There were several other free events that made up Fed Square’s 10th Birthday weekend including free exhibitions at ACMI, The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia and Kirra Galleries, BBQ by the Salvation Army, live broadcast by 774 ABC Melbourne and we even brewed our own birthday beer!
