Get your skates on and take a spin around River Rink at Fed Square this winter.
Bring your family and friends along for a skate while enjoying a picturesque backdrop of the Yarra River and the Melbourne city skyline.
A ticket includes skates and gives you 45-minute session on the ice. Sessions begin on the hour every hour.
For first timers or those unsteady on their skates, you can hire a 70cm high skating aid from the Box Office to help you stay upright. Skating aids are available on a first come first served basis.
If you need to recharge your energy levels there’ll be a great line up of winter warming food and beverages on offer throughout the season.
Be sure to wear your winter warmers and jackets to prepare for Melbourne’s classic “four seasons in one day” weather! We also recommend bringing thick socks and an extra pair, particularly in wet weather, so that you can stay nice and comfortable.

Throughout River Rink, The Playroom will be set up hosting a whole lot of fun activities. Bricks 4 Kidz workshops will teach little ones about the art of Lego building, there will be colourful face painting provided by Pixies and Giant Games.
INTERNATIONAL KISSING DAY ACTIVATION
On Thursday 6 July, from 12pm – 8pm, Carmex will be at River Rink to celebrate International Kissing Day. They will be reminding people of the joy associated with sharing in the simple act of a kiss. Inside their marquee, you’ll find an interactive photo booth, giveaways (including a trip to Noosa) and product sampling. There will also be a chance to have your kiss shown on Fed Square’s Big Screen with Carmex’s Kiss Cam (6pm-8pm) on the ice skating rink or in The Square.
FOOD AND DRINK
There will be a variety of food and drink options available to fill up on next to the rink. These include, Toasted Toasties, Eat the Chicken, Mama’s Gozeleme, Hofmann Woodfire Pizza, Red Lane Cafe, Manny’s Doughnuts, Chooh La La and The Candy Hut. If none of these tickle your fancy, Foodora will be on hand to fetch something for you from nearby.
ENTERING THE ICE RINK
Please take care on the rink. We recommended that you wear a helmet, gloves and warm, comfortable clothes.
Sessions will proceed in wet weather unless the conditions are unsafe.
Children under 10 years of age MUST wear a helmet and children under 5 years of age must be accompanied on the ice by an adult at all times. Please note the minimum age to skate is 3 years.
Helmets are supplied free of charge. For the smaller children, please bring your own helmet, as even the Extra Small helmets may still be too big for some kids.
