Fed Square Pop Up Patch

Fed Square’s car park rooftop has been transformed into a vibrant veggie garden in a joint initiative with Little Veggie Patch Co.

The Fed Square Pop Up Patch is made up of over 140 do-it-yourself veggie plots housed in individual recycled apple crates – the majority which are leased to the public. All the restaurants and cafes at Fed Square have their own plot, where they’ll be growing fresh ingredients to use in their daily menus.

You will also find  a community demonstration veggie garden, shop and information centre in what will be Melbourne’s biggest community garden!

Subscriptions

Get your own plot for the price of a coffee a day! Subscribers will receive the expert advice and training from Little Vegie Patch Co as well as seasonal seed packs, a copy Little Vegie Patch Co gardening book, access to the Pop Up Patch tool shed and exclusive online content.

Taco Truck
Get stuck into a freshly made taco while you soak up the sunshine in the Patch.
When: Every Friday, 6pm – 9pm + every Sunday, 12pm – 3pm

Scarecrow Making
Bring the kids to the Patch and help them make their very own scarecrow to take home. Frame, twine, straw and other necessary scarecrow materials will be provided. Make sure you bring your old clothes.
When: Every Sunday, 12pm – 1pm

Edible Garden Workshops
Join a hands-on and interactive workshop that will teach you how to grow your own produce. Learn about the basics of water, soil and plant nutrition; when to plant; seedling or seed; how to make the most of a small space; and then get your hands dirty and plant your own patch. Fun, insightful and practical. Workshops run for 1.5 – 2 hours and maximum number of participants is 16.
When: Every second Thursday, 6pm + every second Saturday (Summer + Autumn), 1pm

Edible Garden Workshops for Kids
Explore the Pop Up Patch and identify the seasonal produce. Inspect the oversized worm farm and learn how to feed its hungry little residents. Learn how to plant seeds and seedlings and plant your own mini patch to take home.  You can also make your own scarecrow. Workshops run for 1 – 1.5 hours and maximum participants is 16.
When: Every second Saturday (Summer + Autumn), 11am + 3pm
