Inspired by Melbourne's hidden laneways and classic arcades, The Atrium is a creative focal point for designers, artists and community groups. Populated with galleries, specialty shopping and cool cafes, it provides an eclectic mix of cultural experiences, with everything from high art to pop culture.
Melbourne is known for its thriving arts scene and The Atrium is home to no less than six of the city’s major cultural attractions, including The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia, NGV Kids Corner, NGV Studio, The Federation Story, No Vacancy Project Space and Kirra Galleries.
Linked to the popular The Edge theatre, The Atrium is also a hotspot for exhibitions, festivals, book markets, wine showcases and public art installations, with popular venues including:
Fracture Gallery: An enclosed glass space in the wall of The Atrium used for Melbourne’s contemporary art exhibitions and installations.
Community Gallery: A temporary display system used to display the work of local artists, community groups and industry professionals.
Air Gallery: Large artistic works are often suspended from the ceiling of The Atrium in a large, open-air gallery.
